Church Power

DR. MARVIN KING, Kingston, Jamaica: The church is a powerful source in my life; the Bible said in the book of Ephesian 2:20 and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 1 Corinthian 3:9 “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. {3:10} According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. {3:11} for other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. The church teaching me to love the Lord from a child and to lift the fallen; visit the sick; strengthen the weak; encourage the faint-hearted; comfort the feeble-minded; point the lost to the way of salvation and urge all believers to seek a Spirit-filled life  (Ephesians 5: 18; Acts 19:1-16)  and prepare for the coming of the Lord  (James  1:27; 1 Thessalonians 5:4; Mark 16:15-18; Matthew 25:1-13).

PATRICK GIDEON KIMULI, Entebbe, Uganda:  A christian ought to have a balanced knowledge of what is involved in soul winning. He should be told of the risks as well as the fruits in reaching out to sinners and prepare him for them. He has to know that there is no crown without a cross but determine to pus  on with the great commission regardless of the opposition along the way.   If we are to win the world for Christ, there is a need to build trust between the church and sinners. So when we reach out to them, they will gradually begin a relationship with Christ enabled by that trust. Thus we can introduce them to the Lord and the church.  A world that is suspicious of the church is not easy to win to Christ.           A) The church needs to get conversant with the true picture of Christ. Although he is God, he laid aside his majesty and put on human form in order to effectively reach out to man. Having completed the task, he returned to his former glorified form full of majesty and power.
B) Knowledge of this helps a Christian witness to be strong and determined as he reaches out to non believers. Also, it gives him the assurance that by his side there is someone invincible in spite of opposition. It reminds him of the Lord's power to provide, protect and enable with necessary power for victory.
